Improve oversight of operations and complex networks.
OUR RESEARCH TOPICS
Silent Sky Connect
In light aviation, communications between pilots and air traffic controllers (ATC) are conducted exclusively by voice radio.
This presents limitations in terms of safety (radio failure, audio quality) and accessibility for hearing-impaired pilots, who are required to be accompanied by a co-pilot.
Our device allows pilots to communicate without speaking with air traffic control. This system is based on two technologies:
AI for voice recognition, capable of transcribing and interpreting noisy and coded radio messages and converting them into pictograms.
A multimodal interface, combining a touchscreen tablet, vest, and haptic bracelets.
Contrails tracker
Condensation trails represent a significant non-CO2 effect of aviation, and reducing them will become a major challenge with the arrival of new European regulations.
However, their application will depend on physical prediction models and detection methods, the reliability of which must be examined.
SII Research's Contrail Tracker allows the predictions of these models to be cross-referenced with AI detections in ground observations obtained via different types of cameras.
This tool has been used in experiments with our partners: SWISS, Thales Avionics, and Eurocontrol.
I can SII
How can we help visually impaired people move around safely?
Our solution? A system that detects fixed and moving obstacles using LIDAR and a camera. The information is transmitted via vibrations on a jacket or cuffs to ensure better perception of the environment.
A user-centered approach: from design to testing, we work hand in hand with visually impaired people to develop a solution that is truly tailored to their needs. We have worked closely with the Toulouse branch of the Auxiliaires des Aveugles association.
Aspera
Faced with the proliferation of objects in orbit, our R&D teams have been working for two years on Aspera, a project dedicated to a more sustainable space industry.
The goal is to embed more intelligence on board satellites to extend their lifespan and control their deorbiting.
With Aspera, our teams are exploring:
A vision-based guidance system
The integration of AI on FPGA cards
An autonomous satellite approach
This project brings together expertise in computer vision and low-level software to imagine the space applications of tomorrow and transform the sector in a sustainable way.
Motion of Tech
The Motion DeTech project aims to model the movements of elite athletes in great detail and analyze them in real time. It will use data fusion from textile sensors, video capture, and generative AI (Text2Motion) to reconstruct movements and analyze them.
In collaboration with ENS Rennes and Pôle France Kayak, the goal is to optimize the performance of elite athletes for kayaking coaches and analysts.
