THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a competent software engineer, who is skilled is in software simulation. The engineer must have knowledge of simulation environments and several software languages (C, C++, Python) and who can work within a team to build effective simulation products within a modern development environment.

Our teams work within an Agile development environment, using modern Continuous Integration (CI) processes and tooling.

The ideal candidate will have experience in one of the following domains: Defence, Simulation or Integration.

Required Experience

• Development activities using C and C++
• Experience of working with static analysis tools
• Experienced in Real-Time embedded systems & software in development and testing
• Use of configuration management and change management tools e.g. Jira, GIT, BitBucket
• Have some exposure to test automation/continuous build & integration

Desired Experience

• Agile software engineering
• Cloud Deployment / Infrastructure As Code (e.g. OpenStack, Terraform)
• Authentication & Authorisation
• Puppet or Powershell
• JavaScript, Angular, React, Node.js
• HTML / CSS, REST API

KEY DUTIES:

• As a key engineer within the team, undertake the specification, design, implementation, test and integration of software in line with company processes and to required standards.
• Accurately define and estimate required effort for tasks
• Contribute to successfully meet project and product deliverables within schedule and to budget
• Produce quality software products by ensuring interfaces are well defined and documented, as well as correctly adhered to and understood
• Mentor and share knowledge with junior team members
• Work closely with Systems engineering to ensure traceable verification and validation of requirements
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers to understand their needs
• Provide feedback on the efficiency and effectiveness of the development environment.
