THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a competent software engineer, who is skilled is in containerisation, cloud-hosting and web technologies that can work within a team to build effective web service products within a modern development environment.

You should be experienced in programming the business logic for web applications across the full software development lifecycle. Having full-stack knowledge, e.g. front-end as well as back-end components, would be of great benefit.

Our teams work within an Agile development environment, using modern Continuous Integration (CI) processes and tooling.

Required Experience

Virtualisation / Containerisation (Quarkus, Docker, Kubernetes).

Micro-services Web Development.

Java (Spring framework) and Python.

Software Continuous Integration & Delivery (CI/CD) ways of working.

Desired Experience

Agile software engineering.

Cloud Deployment / Infrastructure As Code (e.g. OpenStack, Terraform).

Authentication & Authorisation.

Puppet or Powershell.

JavaScript, Angular, React, Node.js

HTML / CSS, REST API

CI tools (BitBucket, Confluence, Git, Jenkins, Jira, Maven, Nexus, Coverity).

KEY DUTIES:

•   As a key engineer within the team, undertake the specification, design, implementation, test and integration of software in line with company processes and to required standards.
•   Accurately define and estimate required effort for tasks.
•   Contribute to successfully meet project and product deliverables within schedule and to budget.
•   Produce quality software products by ensuring interfaces are well defined and documented, as well as  correctly adhered to and understood.
•   Mentor and share knowledge with junior team members.
•   Work closely with Systems engineering to ensure traceable verification and validation of requirements.
•   Professionally interact with internal and external customers to understand their needs.
•   Provide feedback on the efficiency and effectiveness of the development environment.
